Biography: Actor, best known for his role of the mad scientist in the classic horror film "The Bride of Frankenstein", a role that was turned down by Bela Lugosi. Thesiger and director James Whale met and became good friends. This was the relationship that gained him the role of the mad doctor and also a role in his next greatest film " The Old Dark House". Thesiger was an accomplished watercolor artist and embroiderer in addition to his acting career. He made his last film appearance in The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone in 1961.
