Biography: Actor, appeared in his first role "The Wiser Sex" in 1932 starring Claudette Colbert. The next year Tone appeared in "Today We Live" co-starring Joan Crawford. The two became a couple but would not work together again for several years. IN 1935, He was loaned to Warner Bros. for "Dangerous" with Bette Davis. Tone and Crawford married but the union did not last, with Tone becoming "Mr. Joan Crawford". In 1935, Tone appeared in his biggest hit "Mutiny on the Bounty" with his former co-star Gable. He, Gable and co-star Charles Laughton all received Oscar nominations for best actor. Tone continued acting to little success and, by the 1950's, had all together given up on a film acting career. He appeared in several television plahouse shows and acted on Broadway.
