Biography: Charles Farrell is best know as a leading man in the silent films and the onset of talking pictures. He and Janet Gaynor were paired for 12 films between 1927 and 1934. He retired in the 1940's but came back for a television role in "My Little Margie" in 1952. An explosion on the set of the film that established him, "Old Ironsides," left a technician dead, several bystanders injured, and blew out Farrell's eardrums, leaving him partially deaf for the rest of his life. Charles Farrell died of a heart attack in May of 1990. He was 89 years old.
